A brief history of lacrosse

The Indians probably invented this team game. It has been known since around 1000 AD. It is true that the rules of that time had little to do with the current appearance of lacrosse matches, but experts in the history of sport agree that it is in America that the beginnings of this activity should be found.

The Indian teams were extremely numerous, often consisting of hundreds of people. The space for the game was unlimited, and the duration of the match was even several days. The atmosphere on the “pitch” was similar to the mood of war. The players’ task was to use wooden sticks to throw the ball – most often made of leather – into the opponent’s goal.

Modern game rules

Lacrosse matches take place on a pitch similar to a football pitch. They are divided into 4 quarters, each lasting 15 minutes. Each team has 10 players. The object of the game is to place the rubber ball in the opponent’s goal with a curved stick with a net at the bottom.

What should a lacrosse player be equipped with?

Lacrosse is a very dynamic game, and clashes and collisions between players are its inseparable element. Therefore, each person on the pitch is wearing, among other things, a helmet and pads. Practical and safe footwear as well as comfortable clothing are also extremely important.
