How to care for sports clothing? Top 5 Mistakes

Tags sewn into clothes for many people remain a mystery. Stamps, numbers and symbols that can be found on shirts or other clothing contain a lot of valuable information. Thanks to them you can learn how to properly care for such clothing. This in turn will ensure its longer life and comfortable use for you.

However, if you do not want to delve into the symbolism used by manufacturers of sportswear, we have 5 tips for you what to avoid when caring for training clothes.

Tip # 1 – do not iron

Sportswear used during training in the gym or exercise room should not be ironed. The materials from which these clothes are made do not like high temperatures and steam. During ironing, they may lose their valuable ventilation or thermoactive properties. After washing, such clothes just need to be shaken properly and hung evenly on the dryer. Thanks to this, the creases will not be visible, and you will be able to train freely.

Tip # 2 – Do not wash at too high temperature and on a program not suited to sportswear

Today, washing machines are equipped with dozens of different functions and programs that intelligently take care of your clothes. Do not set the temperature too high during washing, because just like with ironing, clothing may lose its properties. In addition, select the sport option on the panel of your washing machine – then you will be sure that the washing program is delicate enough not to damage your clothes, and at the same time will get rid of all the impurities such as sweat or dust. If somehow your washing machine does not have the option of washing sports clothes, set the temperature manually not exceeding 40 degrees.

Tip # 3 – do not use aggressive detergents

Sportswear can withstand a lot in the training room or gym, but on the contrary, the materials they made of are quite sensitive. Therefore, do not use strong stain removers, bleaches, and the use of rinsing liquids is not recommended either. There are many specialized and inexpensive specimens available on the market, created for the care of training clothes.

Tip # 4 – Wash often

Absolutely do not worry about your running shirt being washed every day or every other day. Of course, frequent use of sportswear, washing and drying it will after some time “wear out”. However, much worse, the condition of clothes is affected by keeping them in a laundry bag or basket. Not to mention the development of bacteria and a bad smell.

Tip 5 – wash sportswear separately

Do not put coats, pants and sportswear in the washing machine drum at the same time. First of all, because the training clothes need different washing parameters. Secondly, delicate sports shirts can easily be damaged by hooking up e.g. with a bur or a zipper in jeans.
